In order to be excused from jury duty, postpone your jury service, submit proof that you are not qualified to serve as a juror, or complete your jury questionnaire which allows you to receive your juror number and important information for your jury service, you must complete the appropriate form on this page. DO NOT COMPLETE THE JURY QUESTIONNAIRE IF YOU DO NOT QUALIFY AS A JUROR, YOU WANT TO REQUEST A POSTPONEMENT OF YOUR JURY SERVICE OR YOU ARE REQUESTING AN UNDUE HARDSHIP. To qualify as a juror in Sumner County you must:
1) Be a resident of Tennessee and Sumner County for at least the past 12 months,
2) Be a US Citizen,
3) Have never been convicted of a felony or other crime of dishonesty
(which includes check fraud, shoplifting, other fraud, etc.).
If you do not qualify as a juror, you must complete the form below and submit the required documentation.

Please submit this request if you would like to move your jury service to another month within the next year.
You are only allowed to request a postponement once.
If you have previously postponed your jury service, you will need to call the jury coordinator at 615-934-5120 or email us at sumnerjury@tncourts.gov.
A second postponement will not be granted without approval from the Judge, and approval will only be granted in the case of an extraordinary event, such as a death in the family, sudden grave illness, or natural disaster or national emergency in which you are personally involved.
According to Tennessee Code Annotated 22-1-103, a summoned juror over the age of 75 and that is incapable of performing jury service due to a mental or physical condition is eligible to opt-out of jury service. If you are over 75 and are incapable of performing jury service, please complete the form below or email the form, mailed to you with your jury Summons to sumnerjury@tncourts.gov. Please note, you are welcome and encouraged to serve as a juror regardless of your age, and your service is greatly appreciated.
Under Tennessee law, you may only be excused from jury duty if you have a disqualifying undue or extreme hardship as outlined in TCA 22-1-103. If you believe you qualify for excusal due to an undue or extreme hardship under the law, please complete the form below and provide the required information and documentation to sumnerjury@tncourts.gov.
